The number every tracker gets wrong
Most spending trackers count a transfer to a friend, a refunded purchase, and paying off your credit card bill as three separate expenses — on top of the spending that already caused them. A real month, illustrated:
A typical tracker says
Expenses this month — counts a ₹18,000 credit card bill payment, ₹2,000 sent to a friend for dinner, and a ₹1,200 Amazon order that was refunded, as if none of that money came back or was already someone else’s.
FinPlanner says
Real Spend — the same month, with the ₹18,000 transfer, ₹1,200 refund, and ₹2,000 to a friend automatically excluded. The actual number your budget should be built on.

Your data, briefly
Statements you upload are parsed to extract transactions, not stored as-is beyond what’s needed to re-process them. When AI parsing is used as a fallback, account numbers, IFSC codes, UPI IDs, emails and phone numbers are stripped out first.
